Ok so this is way late, but when DDWTYH hit NYC a few weekends ago we had our going away brunch at a little place called Marion’s Continental. It’s in Manhattan – 354 Bowery between Great Jones & E. 4th Streets.

Marion’s is a cute little place that Jocelyn and Chris took us to. Needless to say the restaurant was adorable, our food was excellent, their brunch included bottomless bloody marys/mimosas (the best bloody mary I’ve ever had!), and our waitress was a sassy little lady named Bethany. I recommend checking this place out if you haven’t, it was empty when we got there. I was a bit confused, maybe it’s the location?? Anyways, check out these photos!!!!!

My Eggs Florentine. This is my favorite brunch dish ever. I love a poached egg and spinach. I will say though, The Inn on Coventry does a better florentine, imo. However, I do enjoy that practically all NYC restaurants give you a side of mixed greens. AWESOME! Also, I thought their potatoes were wacky. I like straight up home fries or browns. These potatoes tasted a lot like TOMATOES, and to me that was weird. But, their fries, which are in view in the next photo, were magnificent. So get those instead.

Chris Duffy’s 2 egg breakfast.

Zachariah and Zak both got some kind of Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Wildly weird. I hate smoked salmon.

Zachariah and our lovely waitress, Bethany.

They had a Jameson baby!!!!!

TOUGH!

So after we ate Bethany got us all a round of JAMESON shots. Nothing kick starts your sunday afternoon shopping spree and 8 hour drive back home like a shot of ol’ Mr. Jameson. Basically, despite the fact that their potatoes were weird, they did have amazing bloody marys and our waitress was the best damn waitress in NYC. GO THERE!!!!

So today i started my day by hanging out with the one and only taylor dell,

taywer dell’s a sweepy face

he woke up late today, so I came by his house to deliver him lunch, and coffee, and then draw pictures with him. Here is what we ate,

samiches care of presti’s These sandwiches care of Presti’s bakery in good ol’ Lil’ Italy. They are made with ham and lettuce and tomato, a little swiss cheese and, an apple slice.

Later that day Erika and I met up to ride bikes to Ian Charnas’

He was having thank you dinner for all of the friends and voulunteers that made his Middle School field trip party at the natural history museum a smash hit. Better than that, it was also a benifit for the community center he works with and helped start called C-space, and he and the friends made $5,000 to help fund the space.

Good night !

Yesterday I went grocery shopping and I was delighted to see what looks like a really smart idea, and something that TOTALLY should have been MY idea. It is called GRAPPLE. Okay, so the concept is, they get some apples, really nice washington apples that are USDA grade EXTRA FANCY and inject it with GRAPE FLAVOR, so that what you get is some thing that “looks like an apple, tastes like a grape.” Sounds AMAZING doesn’t it? And like a dream come true?

I am pissed because I paid $3.99 for 4 apples that do not taste like orchard concord grapes as described on the packaging, but tastes like normal ordinary apples. Granted they were good, crisp, juicy apples, but I did not pay a dollar an apple to get good-tasting apples. I don’t even like apples to be honest. I WANTED GRAPE-FLAVORED APPLES!!

So, in conclusion, I was slightly bummed, but got over it. They had a very smart marketing strategy that totally worked on me, and I was fooled. I encourage everyone though to not waste your money on grapples. The people who produce these are assholes.

A few weekends ago, in early October, David and I finally made it to the Tremont Outdoor Farmer’s market. We went to purchase some delicious goods from my friend Emmy, who runs Wonder City Farms in Cleveland. Emmy is pretty sweet, and her Asian eggplants were pretty sweet, too! Here’s some photos from the Market and the dinner I prepared for Dave and I afterwards!

Emmy and her produce!

A sweet selection of garlic and honey! (the honey is so good. straight from a bee’s butt)

Tasty herbs.

Asian eggplants and shallots!

So after purchasing these tasty treats, I made dinner for David and I.

Here is some zucchini, garlic, and asian eggplants frying in some oil, sea salt, and rosemary. Asian eggplants are so deliciously tender you can eat the skin no problem.

Zucchinis, eggplants, and spaghettis. Kinda basic, but tasty.

Mixed greens salad, tomatoes from MY GARDEN!, and wasabi dressing I made.

Dave liked it. Work.
